About Bhashalaya

BHASHALAYA is a non-profit organization that aims to protect the language and culture and transfer from generation to generation among the Nepali people who are currently living around Launceston. BHASHALAYA is currently running Nepali language literacy classes for kids under 16 years. Apart from this BHASHALAYA is conducting “Active and Creative Kids” whose aim is to enhance their creative knowledge in different fields such as art and craft, music and athletics. BHASHALAYA is providing various support to the children from Nepali community. Not only BHASHALAYA focuses on teaching and mentoring, but BHASHALAYA also helps them recognize their strength and weakness in the early stage of child development.

What we do

Primary, we run a language school for kids under age of 16. The literacy, art and culture are the main part of curriculum. WE run tutoring and mentoring classes for the primary level student. We also run music and dance classes to the kids as well. We are planning to extend our classes to other activities that helps to aid overall development and growth of the child.

Mission, Vision & Objectives

The mission, vision & objectives of the BHASHALAYA is to preserve Nepali language in foreign land by handing over to the kids of Nepali origin or anyone want to build a vibrant and strong Nepali community through its language and culture. BHASHALAYA is contributing to the Australian government to build a multicultural country.

Managing BHASHALAYA

Managing BHASHALAYA is very challenging. The normal operations of BHASHALAYA are managed by the group of volunteers who contribute time for BHASHALAYA. We are working in developing a pool of volunteers. The overall response from the community is very positive, hopefully we can use more volunteer resources in future. We also have a team of education experts who manage the BHASHALAYA course curriculum based on children’s overall development aspects.

Sustainability of BHASHALAYA

BHASHALAYA is part of Nepali society of Northern Tasmania (NSNT). At the moment BHASHALAYA is supported by the Launceston council. We are heavily relying grant based financial model and contribution from volunteers. But most of the grant supports are of one-off type and will not be continuing for next term. So, we are now planning for long term sustainably of BHASHALAYA by finding additional resources on the financial pool. For the sustainability of BHASHALAYA we are seeking help from the business houses like yours, so that we can run BHASHALAYA in all situation.
